SOMETHING IN THE AIR...

By Pierre Baltadano

Being Apple lovers over here, any Apple product news is consumed voraciously. On Tuesday, January 14th at 9:00 AM, Apple Inc.’s Steve Jobs will deliver the Keynote Presentation at Macworld Conference and Expo at San Francisco’s Moscone West. For any Apple fan, this event is where we get to see and drool over the new and groundbreaking products to come out of the Cupertino, CA based company.

Over at AppleInsider.com, they have posted images of banners reading, “2008: There’s something in the air,” that have been raised at Moscone West in preparation for the event. Yeah, they’re banners, I know, but with Apple, hints like this are the fuel for fanboy fires.

Could it be alluding to an onslaught of further Wi-Fi connectivity across the Apple products?Something like Wi-Max capability for devices such as the iPhone, Apple TV, and laptops… Intel and AT&T, both partners with Apple, have been working together on the tech for several years.

An Apple TV update with wireless iTunes purchasing and movie rentals?

iPhone over the air purchasing at locations such as Starbucks, another Apple partner?

Maybe the rumored slim MacBooks??

Predictions aside, something major should come out of this years Keynote because the font change, to a thinner and “lighter” version of the company’s usual font choice, is a deviation coming from a company that maintains extremely strict control over it’s image, marketing, and visual presence. Font changes and logo changes usually signal major events for a company, so come this Tuesday at 9:00 AM we will see what change, or changes, Apple, Inc. will be bringing in 2008.

SINGING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH KATY PERRY...

Katy Perry gave her all in what was her last performance in 2007. Katy’s natural, enchanting, and colorful stage presence hyped up the crowd at the Mezzanine in San Francisco for what was a true New Years Eve Blast. Playing along side her was the super talented Matt Beckley. Katy and band gave San Francisco a true LA treat that they just couldn’t get enough of!

Katy Perry’s fan club/ Entourage was in full support to ring in the new years. Along for the ride were, to name a few, myself, Markus Molinari, sister Angela Hudson, longtime friend Pierre Baltanado, friend Justin Wilczynkski, and friends Josh Groban and brother Chris Groban.

THREE THUMBS UP FOR BEOWOLF 3-D

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Last weekend Colin Branca and I tried catching Beowolf at three SOLD OUT theaters before settling on a 2-D showing at the Grove. A week later I still wanted to see it but this time as in its IMAX 3D Experience glory. So I asked my good friend Pierre Baltadano if he wanted to go watch it at the Universal Studio's CityWalk IMAX; it was so much better in 3D. Don’t be an idiot. Go see Beowulf. See it on the biggest flippin’ 3D screen you can find. It has the thrills for both the action/fantasy fan and the cinĂ©aste trying to follow modern progressions in filmmaking. This is filming future and on a beastly IMAX screen it feels like you are in the same world as the characters.
