Can anyone please comment on Massachusetts licensing requirements? and the validity period for someone who is working on EAD? Thanks!
Fortunately, MA is still unaffected by the xenophobic policies regarding Driver's Licenses that are prevalent in other states. You can renew your license online, and the length or the nature of the validity of your immigration status has no influence on the type or duration of the driver's license. How long this will stay like this in MA is anybody's guess. I am sure they will also become restrictive when pressure is brought on by REAL ID regulations.

My wifes EAD was approved on July 30th. We applied for SSN on 6th of August and she received her SSN on 13th of August. Once you apply for SSN they will give you a letter stating that you have applied for SSN. On that letter it specifically states that you CAN start working and show that letter as a proof to your employer.

Hi,
I have applied for Canadian PR (AINP) and would like to know after getting canadian PR,will it possible for H4 and H1 person to work for Canada based company by staying in US or not?
I think I am not impacting US labor or anything. I will be working for Canadian company from US. I will be getting Salary / Tax deduction in Canada.

The only reason why the House hasn't given in on CIRA is because of the incessant pressure of restrictionists such as NUmbersUSA activists. Look at how active they are. Granted one has to be a Citizen to vote, but the first amendment gives us ALL the right to free speech and express ourselves. That is why IV is legal, and that is why the least we can do is a webfax campaign regarding Skilled Immigration (SKIL bill) AND show up at local meetings with Congressman.
Believe me, if we don't speak up, no one is going to do it for us. People like me with 02 priority dates are going to wait atleast two more years, folks who filed in 05 may get to wait 5+ years for their GC. This is the way things look currently.

Going to canada for H1B extension visa stamping for first time. I am asking my friend in canada to get Scotia Bank Receipt. The US Consulate site say that scotia bank accepts US$ Cash/Money order/Certified check. How my friend will get 150 US$ in canada? Does he needs to pay in equivalant Candian Dollors and scotia bank will convert to US$ or I need to send 150$ from here?

I guess we have to keep all this in mind when we ask for a bill that would solve the retrogression problem. Solving one problem and getting into others and ending up in the same place does not make sense.
Maybe we can suggest some relief measures to be added on to SKIL or CIR bill itself anticipating what USCIS, FBI and whatever other relavent organization is going to face, specially if something like the CIR passes, there is no way the current setup will be able to absorbe 12 to 20 million more cases even if they are added to the back of the list, giving priority to who is already in the pipeline.

Hi, Congratulations :) When our son was born, we were in a similar predicament. We had to travel to India after about 60 days. This was the sequence of events..we got the birth certificate after 10 days, SSN after about 25 days. Applied for passport, paid extra for expedited service and got it in less than a week. Went to the indian embassy and person, explained the situation and the got the visa in about 2 days..
Afterwards i found out that the PIO involves less paperwork :) but i dont know how long that will take ...

For my final H1B extension, I used Chugh law firm and my employer did premium processing with them. Got my 3 yr extn in 2 days!!! Not sure if its the law firm or just my case.But they were prompt in paperwork and my interaction with them was only twice. Just honor their checklist and u r done.
However, for GC, I used Mr. Michael Khosla's (The Law Offices of P. Michael Khosla & Associates, P.C. www.usimmigration.net (http://www.usimmigration.net)) services. Reasonable fee and awesome service. Never had any issues and got my GC in 2010

Folks,
Last month I called TSC and got a really nice IO. I was checking on my FBI name check status and he told me that he can get more details by A# instead of receipt NO. He in fact found my A# as i only had receipt number handy. He than told me that the FBI checks are cleared and my case is assigned to an IO.
Does case assigned to an IO means that when Visa nos are available i have chance to get GC? Does it mean it is adjudicated and waiting for visa NO?

Inform the school that you have changed your status to H1 from F1 and need not take class. If needed provide them the H1 approval. Most people forget to inform school and the school will record sevis violation on you which will provide problems at stamping and port of entry.
