If going out of the country for a long time as a GC holder, you may need to apply for travel document (returning resident ????) with USCIS.

I just think SUPPOSE the bill really "granting the green card to someone who have stayed in US continously for 5 years" and if every of this type applicant is charged US$20,000 for immigration entry fee, there will be tremendous amount of money inflow to the economy and can save the economic recession but it is only a dream and will never come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
$20,000 fee as an immigration fee from those who have been in the US for 5 years (in addition to taxes, SS, Medicare etc.)? How will this save country from recession? Perhaps it will speed it up? $20K, which you would have spent on goods, will go out of circulation !!

Let us be very clear, we are MORE THAN WILLING to associate with any org that can be beneficial to us. One of the members of IV had established contact with USINPAC and it has been a very fruitful association
If anyone can do the same thing with any other org (could be 'Chinese Physicians Association', or 'Russians in America' or 'Canadians in USA' or even 'Americans for High Skilled Immigrants' - please note that I made up all the names, but please get the gist) please take the inititative and let us know how it goes.
Also note, that even if we associate with an org primarily working for a particular country, all our issues will benefit EVERYONE from every country. It is impossible to press for an amendment like 'Ability to file I485 without regard to visa number for Indian Nationals only'. The US Government doesn't allow that and neither will IV go in that direction.
The keywords here are 'publicity and exposure'. We really need that to protect our amendments in the Senate and the House Conference

They do (3 years old info). Make sure you ahve all the documents that are mentioned in their checklist. They will give you the visa with the expiry date based on your I-94.

I had applied for the extension of my parents in laws' stay online (I -539 form thro� USCIS E-FILE). Throughout the entire process of the application, I was not asked to turn in any documents. After submitting the form, I had called the USCIS to find out the list of documents that I needed to send. I was told then that during the processing of the application, if the USCIS needed any supporting documents, they will ask for it. I did not get any notification regarding the same in the last two months since the application was filed. However, I got a letter denying the extension. The reason stated was that I had not provided any supporting documents (that their stay was temporary, that they have enough funds, that they have reason to return back to India etc.). Is there any step that I could take to reverse this decision? I have all the supporting docs ready, and can send it to them immediately. I didn't send them earlier because I was specifically asked to wait for further instructions regarding the same. Can they change their decision if I provided all the documents? Any kind of help from anyone who has gone thru a similar situation or has had any such experience would be highly appreciated.

first of all i am sorry to hear that your company is not doing good..oh well we are in a recession so who isnt?
anyways, your 485 was filed last month, kind of sucks, bcos you can invoke AC21 if your 140 is approved (in your case it is), 485 >180 days, find a similar job with more or exact pay mentioned in your LCA..Use your EAD and lose your H1 status ( could be risky if your AOS is denied, then you do not have a status).
In other case, you need to find a company which can sponsor (transfer your H1) and then start your perm all over again.
Other senior posters, pls shed some light on this topic. Is AC21 safe ? what is the probabilty of getting GC through AC21 without an RFE?
